I see. The 2GR-FSE is the longitudinal variant which already has DI. I don't know if it may be cost prohibitive to put in the Tacoma since Manufacturers usually don't like to put an engine available in their luxury line in their domestic line. It tends to bring down the desire of their more expensive models.

The FSE is the D4-S injection setup. That means 12 injectors in a V6. I don't know that the new 2GR revision is getting the D4-S or just 6 injectors. I imagine there are some internal bits that are different, too, but I expect the 2GR-FSE will be getting some upgrades of its own to keep it differentiated. We know the 2.0T is coming down the pike for Lexus, so I'd be surprised if the IS350 and GS350 got nothing in the way of upgrades at that time.

The Taco/4runner is the exact same as the Tundra/sequoia IMO. What exterior parts do the Tundra/Sequoia share? To me both relationships consist of similar design, dimensions and power.

Be great if the D4D made it in the 2015-16 state side. Would make the swap for me alot easier, monetarily speaking.

Only because they didn't update the '14 Sequoia. The Taco and 4Runner share(d) some running gear (engine, AT, diffs, etc), but the interior and exterior aren't interchangeable at all. The 4Runner shares a lot more with the Hilux than the Tacoma as far as platform goes. The Sequoia and Tundra were practically the same inside and outside from the b pillar forward. You can't say the same for the Tacoma and 4Runner.

1st Gen Doublecab Tundra was identical to the Sequoia down to the wiring harness. The 1st Gen Sequoia was not the same as the 1st Gen single/access cab... the "Beltline" was about an inch and a half thinner on the 1st Gen pickups. I think the hood was interchangeable, but the grille on the Sequoia was taller.

1st Gen RC/AC had a different wiring harness than the Doublecab. Made for some very interesting mod translations.

But ya, on the 4R/Pickup, the two have been very different beasts since 1995.
