I think you'd have to do some custom welding to prevent that. Looks like you have good skidplates. But you were reversing so there's no warning bump from an IFS skidplate. The only way to avoid that same rock in the future is more ground clearance, IMO.

thanks their relentless fab, but I know ato are similar. I got mine to accommodate the exhaust but it was so bent prior to install that it never worked so, flattened it up.

It was a stupid moment. I wanted a different angle. I back down a ledge to fast and landed hard on a rock I had driven over.

Ah, ok, yeah, I see the difference in the skids now. I have the Buds also, and yeah maybe they would have prevented that even in a reversing situation.

This was just a reminder to me. Shit brakes when you make a hasty decision offroad with out thinking about where you are. In terms of damage that could have happened today this was minimal.

Getting OUT is often a more difficult proposition than getting in. Been there done that.

Very true. This thread makes me feel better about the damage. The next guy who searches TW after landing on his cross member will find something and there is lots of info about differences in skids. Thread win...

Thanks. I took it to toyota for the 5000 mile service yesterday and had them check out the damage. They said its still structurally sound and everything is good,
