The mailman brought my new GoPro today. Can't wait to try it out. I had to order a mounting bracket for the front bar on my truck. I finally got it synced with my iphone. This thing is gonna be cool, I plan on recording while driving thru Idaho, Colorado and Monument Valley, Arizona. This is a trip I am planning in May.

The things are great, but pay attention to the mounting.

There was a youtube video a few weeks ago of a windsurfer who lost his... played the video of it falling and rolling around on the bottom (it was returned to him)... but we've also had a few people post up on the local Scuba forum that they've found GoPro cameras that have been on the bottom (as deep as 60ft) for several months...
But the cameras have been fine and the "finder" typically posts "Tell me where you lost it and describe what I might see on the video"

The mount could be a weakness to them, I've heard of others having trouble but I have yet to have an issue while flying aerobatics. It has survived maneuvers up to 200 MPH and +6 & -3 G's.

When mounting mine, I use zip ties as a secondary securing method. Works great

My gopro has survived 160mph passes on my bike... Just the sticky mount on the side of my helmet.

Best mount to invest in is a tripod mount, then you can get very creative on making your own mounts.

Heres a mount I made for my sliders.

Thanks, just borrowed some ideas i found on the Web and made it with my own twist. The gopro tube mounts are plastic and expensive. Got $10 into that...and its not going to break!

I think I may look into building my own also. I ordered a roll bar mount from GoPro but it's in the mail. I will try it and see how I like it. If I don't trust it, I'll start putting one together.

Another cool mount is a inside windshield suction cup mount made out of aluminum L stock, suction cups and a tripod mount. I'm going to make one, its perfect for time lapse pictures while traveling.

Yea that's why I went with the RAM mount. I sometimes hesitate to even trust those little extender arms...

I had one of the plastic spring pieces break when clipping into my helmet. Thankfully while I was mounting it and not using it
