I'm glad to see that other people hate the seats because I thought it was just me. I'm 6' tall and I tad heavier than I was when I bought my truck (260 lbs.) I can deal with the awkward seating position but what's really getting to me these days is pain in my right leg after driving for half an hour. I have the TRD seats and I'm not comfortable so I can't imagine what it's like for those of you who don't have these supposedly upgraded seats. BTW I've always taken my wallet out of my pocket when I drive (except for short trips).

When I make short trips around town I'm okay but when my commute to work changed from 10 minutes to an hour each way I started to really notice how uncomfortable I am in these seats. Last night's 2 hour drive home in the snow storm was no fun and I usually love driving in the snow. Towards the end of my usually 1 hour commute my right leg starts to hurt pretty bad which makes it hard to work the gas and brake pedals.

I had a 2001 Rav4 for many years and while those seats were also quite awkward because of their small size and angled headrests, I got used to them and never had any discomfort on long drives. My Rav4 didn't have lumbar support but did have a knob to raise and lower the pitch of the seat (raised the front of the seat up and down). The seats were also an inch or so higher off the floor which also made a difference.

A common problem I have with most vehicles which seems worse with the Tacoma is that the steering wheel is too far forward, and even if I telescope it all the way out, by the time I slide my seat back far enough for my legs to be comfortable the steering wheel is too far away. I think the actual problem is not that the steering wheel is too far forward, but the footwell area is not forward enough.

I think my long term solution is to lose weight and get back into shape (haha) but for the short term I'm going to try some seat pads or a set of Wet Okole covers when I get some extra cash.

Ever thought about putting in pre-12 non-TRD seats in the truck? Or even 4-Runner seats? Just a thought.

I love my 2006 TRD Sport, no issues at all, even after making a 24-hour round trip from CA to Hillsborough, OR and back.

Wow, do I ever feel lucky. You guys make me appreciate everything. I started over 30 years ago with a 1980 Long bed pickup, darn, that bench seat really, really sucked. I rolled up towels and placed them behind the seat at the springs location. Nothing helped at all.

Then I traded that 1980 pickup for a new 5 speed pickup longbed 1984 and those bench seats or seat arrangement was mildly better. We needed a car for running around Toronto, so we sold that truck (got lots of my money back, too) and bought a 1986 Civic hatchback. Enter my family and kids' years. Several SUV's and 3 Rav4's later, I'm back in a 2007 Access Cab with bucket seats.

I was concerned about my upcoming cross Canada trip 9K miles (it's a USA import truck, thanks USA brothers...) since those bucket seats were untested. :D

Was I ever in for a surprise and I never experienced any aches or pains. Life is good :)

Now my son inherited that 2007 Access Cab long bed and I've bought a new-to-me 2010 DCSB and all is great now. I have no complaints. :) Maybe I'm lucky.

    cheers and Merry Xmas all!

I don't know if this is possible with the seat airbags added in 2009ish. I would imagine that all sorts of lights and warnings show up on the dash if this isn't connected. Anybody confirm this?

It's been done. Some controllers may need to transplant from the original seats, but it is possible.

Just don't power up the ignition with anything unplugged... set an "Airbag" light and you'll need to go to the dealer, Autozone can not reset it.
