Aw man! I thought you were going to say something about giving the shock bodies time settle into shape after machining, or letting the O-rings get fully saturated by the oil! :D

Me too. My lift went straight from the box, onto the floor for a quick pic, then onto the truck pretty much the next day.

Probably a dumb question, but i have no experience with fox. How much better are the fox 2.5 coilovers w/o rr compared to the toytec bilstein coilovers? I dont think ive obsessed or lost this much sleep over anything haha I dont do that much wheeling but when I do, i want to know my taco can handle whatever i put it threw. I'm a mechanic so I like to do things right the first time when it comes to my taco ha

You cannot beat the rebuildability of the Fox series shocks vs others which are sealed for life and cannot be touched from the inside. Get the fox. Fork out the little bit of extra doe and be done with it. It will be worth it in the end.

I gotta take an update snapshot of my rear setup. It looks pretty legit in there. Always ready for the trails!

Hey there! I am running 2.0 piggys I the rear with 10" of travel and all pro expo springs which give me 3-4" of lift in the rear. The truck does great articulated and even better with a truck load of camping gear down a dirt road! I've traveled numerous 100+ mile dirt roads in baja at high speed with slow sections in the middle and shocks never softened. A+ in my book just wanted to share!

That's great! Did you modify the FJ piggybacks? From what I know they don't offer 10" stroke shocks for the 2nd gen tacos in the piggyback series.

Well there shouldn't be an issue running them with that much lift. If you are using those shocks with standard Dakar springs and no additional lift then it wouldn't surprise me as to why they recommend limiting straps with it, they say that because the shocks will be more compressed as the truck sits which will leave less room for compression to the bottom of the shock vs. With lift there is additional height so the shock isn't as compressed as it sits and travels to the bottom. I hope that made sense.

Fox makes things way too difficult to cross reference and locate things for the poor uneducated bastard who wants to lift his truck but hasn't done much research. I searched like a mad dog for over a week and a half before I figured it out!

Very agreed on the Fox part.

My mistake, I thought you were referring to direct stock swap outs for the Dakar springs. (If they even exist?) Lol. I have 2.25 inches of lift in the rear with my Deavers F85 springs w/ stock overload still intact with a 4.5" bump stop attached to the frame with an additional 1/4" of aid to the bump stop height from the U-bolt flip kit from All Pro. A nice 4.75 inches of bump stop action essentially for a 6" travel on shock currently as the truck sits. Meaning I have 1.25" worth of travel space until impact to the bump stop and a full 3" worth of bump stop engagement to slow/stock those shocks from bottoming out. 1" total of additional spacing and unusable space from additional spacing I added to the bump stop. I have been through some gnarly shit out there on the terrain and have been all but airborne yet (as far as I know, lol) and I have had yet as to indication of concern about using limiting straps.

I'll go out there and retake some current measurements actually. I'm doing this all off the top of my head from what I can remember.

Edit: Lies on my part. So sorry!

I just retook measurements as the truck sits on level ground. 2.25" of leaf spring, a full 4" of open air until bump stop engagement, 2" worth of bump stop usability until total bottom out by shocks. 2" of engagement is about halfway on those GM bump stops. Overall height on it (bump stop) is 4" before adding .75" inches additional of spacing to it (.5" of fender washers and .25 from flip kit plate).

6" worth of shock travel before full bottom out. 4" of open air, 2" of bump stop action, I would like to think that is plenty based upon the measurement and place of max bottom out where my shocks would be at, but maybe it's not? If you look at the placement of the ruler and compare that to where that equals out to on the honeycomb style bump stop, it looks like enough right? What do you guys think?

I have my Bilstein 5100's maxed out at 2.5" up front and the rear is just ever slightly higher then the front, still maintaining that stock looking rake, lol, funny how that worked out. Not exactly a bad thing for when it comes to towing shit.

I'm only asking about my travel for the bumps due to the fact I am going to Pismo and may do some jumping. I don't want to fuck up my beautiful Fox shocks :D

I wonder what the spring rate is and the shocks current rated compression rate is.. hmm, I also wonder how strong the bumps are. they seem pretty darn stout. They can hold a full size truck perfectly fine, I don't see why they couldn't handle our smaller and lighter midsize.
