    Hey!

So, Im pretty sure the rear diff in my 06 Tacoma is effed right up. I was traveling in Minneapolis Minnesota, doing 30kmh, went to do a lane change, heard a loud bang with a ping to it, and my truck basically died on the interstate. I managed to cut off 3 lanes worth of traffic before my truck came to a hault and would not budge. ((sorry to anyone I cut off in Minneapolis, and thank you for not hitting me!)) I slipped my truck into 4x4... backed it up a few feet (wouldent go forward at all), then was able to limp it off the interstate and into an empty parking lot. Was making a good clunking noise the whole time.

So, I pulled the driveshaft and limped it back home to Parry Sound ontario... using front wheel drive. Nearly 1600 km on front drive train only BUT there was not a PEEP from the rear. It rolled smooth as butter.

Im trying to allocate a good rear axle, just to do a quick drop out/in job. I just need this repair to last me until next spring when I switch the diffs out completely for a nice 4.56 setup.

Any suggestions? I knoe, first i should have a little peek inside just to see HOW much damage was done and WHAT broke... but Im just looking for the quickest and cheapest repair.

You might try a place like this: http://www.auto-recyclers.com. This one's just down the road from me. Obviously you'd have to pick your parts from a truck with no impacts that would have damaged the rear drivetrain.
