I bought a Kenwood DPX500BT and installed it in my 2001 Tacoma. It works great except for the times when i start my truck and the stereo does not want to power on. I checked all my wiring and looks good. I checked all the fuses and none of them are blown. The only way i can get it to work again is by removing the fuse from underneath the hood and put it back in. It does not do it all the time but maybe twice a week and sometimes i can go a 2 weeks without a problem. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Go over all the wires again with a fine tooth comb. Replace that fuse. Lots of things could be the culprit with this.

Dedicated wires directly from the battery (fused) and directly to a GOOD ground! 14ga or larger should be sufficient.

is it a detachable face? if it is try pushing on the face. Sometimes there isnt good contact there and will cause the radio to appear off or not come on at all

Start by trying to isolate the problem. Try to check it when you are having he problem, before you pull the fuse to fix it. . What I would do is this. Next time it happens check first if the power wire at the back of the radio is hot. Check with ignition in ON and in ACC position. If it is hot at the radio then it is a problem with the radio or radio ground. You can check ground with a wire from the Neg battery terminal to the Radio shell or box. With the radio on and the key on. Just touch the screw head holding the radio in the mounting bracket with the ground wire you connected to the neg battery terminal. You could also tap into the ground wire coming out of the radio to check this. If the radio plays you have lost the ground to it. It could be a rusty screw on a ground wire or loose ground wire. If you have power and ground confirmed it is the radio. intermittent problems are a pain. All you can do is try to isolate the problem when it is happening. Good luck
