Plus it would be illegal to do so.

Yes I wonder how people survived so many years with vehicles that didn't come equipped with tire pressure sensors , how horrible life must have been

Also it's not illegal in my state

I know. The agony of not having 32 computers watching every input deciding if you have the ability to even open the door to sit in the seat.

I would be very careful how You phrase that. I'm not going to start a debate here but let me say it is a safety item mandated by the gov to be in the vehicle. A repair facility cannot legally disable a fed mandated device. How they rule during a inspection is per state and up to them. That it why we can't disable the system.

TPMS is federally mandated to be operable on all passenger vehicles with a GVWR under 10,000 pounds (since 2007, I believe). It IS is a violation of federal law to disable the system and a tech should not be inclined to do so for that reason. It is not illegal to remove the sensors however. One would just have a low tire pressure light on, thus indicating that the system still works.

And, lighten up. Mike was just trying to help and ensure that you knew what you were getting in to.

It's mandated in North America. So yeah that includes your state.

    Excuse me?????????
I answered your question and the reason why. What you do with that system on your own is your own choice. You posted that it was not illegal in your state and I told you it was in reference to a repair facility. I don't like them any more than u do. So in that aspect of the question. You are way out of line attacking me for giving you the short, quick answer that you were asking for. So in that context you owe me a apology for being a fuckin dick head...
I'm sorry if a 2 letter response. And a short explanation was not to your liking.
    Merry christmas

In the United States, the United States Department Of Transportation (NHTSA) released the FMVSS No. 138, which requires an installation of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to all new passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks, and buses that have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4,536 kg (10,000 lbs.) or less, except those vehicles with dual wheels on an axle, as of 2007.
