I just brought a 2008 Tacoma reg cab 5speed 4x4. Its a beautiful truck. Came with a black cap. It has 93000 on it. I would like to put a small lift with 265 tires. Seeing if anyone has feedback. Thanks

....i would stick with stock size in a better than stock tire....i got rid of the stock dunflops that were P245/75R16 for a set of Firestone Destination AT in P245/75R16. You want to stay the same sidewall height so your speedometer isn't effected. If you want to cut down weight and rolling momentum, buy lighter wheels.... My $0.02

    265/70 R16 BF Goodrich A/T's Plasti-dipped factory wheels More to come...soon
I went with 265/70's on mine, same height as stock just a bit wider. Looks better too, and no speedometer problems or loss of power.

I had the 265 70 16 hankooks and they were nice. i upgraded to the 265 75 16 Hankooks and had to trim a bit of the mudflaps to get them to fit but i'm stock height, no lift. great tire, light weight too, difference is not real noticeable. still getting about 22 mpg, and as a bonus the speedo is dead on. not sure if you noticed, but it is off from the factory

Thanks for the reply. Good stuff.

Funny you guy talk about speedos. Like I said i bought it a couple weeks ago. I live in central NY and took it for its first road trip to my girlfriends in Virgina. It was around 900 miles round trip. On the way back home north on 81, I driving was next to a civic that had a digital MPH display. I was going 70 but the civic said 65. I looked again and my eye wern't lying. I was really going 65 instead of 70. I was kinda pissed because had I known this before hand, I could of been driving 75 or 80 on my trip. The tires that came with the truck are brand new and are 265 Fuzions. What are the stock size? Changing tire size will make an 5mph difference on the speedo?

Probably won't make that much of a difference. If your truck is a base sr5 4x4, stock size is P245/75R16

Normal on the 5 speed 4x4 speedos from what I've read. Lots of them read high on factory tire sizes, usually around 3-4%. If I want to do 65 actual, I need to put the speedometer on 70; for 55 actual, speedo needs to read 59, and so forth. I have 245/75-R16

There's odometer error too but it's less

I check my speedo against a gps or cell phone app. They're generally dead-on.

Yeah the V6's tend to be much closer IMO. My six speed was within about 1 mph of the GPS
