Came across an Onstar alternative (cheaper and simpler) today and was wondering if anyone had used it or if anyone had any thoughts on it. It's called splitsencd and has built in gps, speakerphone, cell service, and battery back up. Plugs into your cigarette lighter and uses accelerometers to monitor for a crash. In the event of an accident the system notifies their call center who then contacts you in the vehicle to determine if 911 should be sent (they get location via GPS). Extra features include a button you can push to get emergency services without a crash and a tracking feature on the website or app that let's you view the vehicles location and the last 10 trips. Cost is 199$ and a 14.99/month fee. Thoughts?
