Is anyone planning on being out in OW between 12/21 - 12/24? If so where do you plan on camping?

I am wanting to take my brother-in-law out there and show him around. Since I'll be in daily driver I don't want to thrash it so we will be hitting up the main sites (ie blow sand, gas domes, salton sea etc).

Fish creek is exactly what I'm looking for! I've been riding in OW for 10+ years but haven't heard for that trail. My buddies and I usually ride east of the blu-in and/or north of shell reef.

My brother-in-law hasn't been yet. He just moved here from the UK. If you do end up going, PM me where you plan on camping and what days you will be there. I'll try to do the same.

Take him to Baja... it will blow his mind... it did another Brit, who wrote a great book about his walk around the coast of Baja (3,000 miles)!

He migrated to San Diego to be close to Baja and has written 3 more books on Baja adventures. Say hello to Graham Mackintosh!

I'm gonna try and roll out to OW some time during those dates. I've never been out there before so I'm pretty stoked to check out some cool stuff.

Fish Creek (Split Mountain) is a great run, all 2WD stuff unless you take Broken Shaft Gulch and the Diablo Dropoff.

Devil's Slide (Squaw Peak) is the other direction, NW from the dry lake... that is 4WD stuff with a sand plateau to play on.

    Thanks...

BB, I can give you verbal directions if you need them.. basically for Split Mountain/ Fish Creek you just drive south from downtown Ocotillo Wells on Split Mountain Road. Before you get near the gypsum mine and railroad you go off to the right to enter Split Mountain on dirt. Then drive in there as far as you want!

Devil's Slide is the other side of Hwy. 78, NE of the dry lake... lots of roads, signed, and this is in the Off Road park (Split Mountain is in the Anza-Borrego State Park and you must stay on established roads). http://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/Devil's_Slide_(Ocotillo_Wells)
