anyone ever had their cats changed in an 07. mine has a terrible rattle and want to get them replaced. curious about the cost. I know their are some cheap aftermarket cats out there, are they worth a crap or should I go with oem. also considering the URM long tube headers with the o2 simulator. thoughts please.

If you have a failing cat, I believe its suppose to be covered by Toyota. If you purchased one it would be over $1000.

The truck has a high pitched raaaaaap sound to it at a certain rpm range under acceleration, I believe it is a cat making this awe full racket.

Federal emission warranty is 96 month 80K miles. If you fall within that have the dealership do it. That said, it is possible to delete them but it's probably not legal and you will fail inspection if you have them in your area. There is actually four cats on our trucks. The first two in the headers are the ones that crack to shit. Are you getting a CEL?

sure its not just a heat shield thats gotten bent somehow and main contact with the exhaust? i had that happen in my last car and it took me forever to diagnose.. once i did tho it was just a matter of grabbing the thing (when cold ) and bending it back to where it was supposed to be.. just a thought

I have hunted and checked heat shields from one end to the other. I did think that is what it was. No CEL

I don't want to spend a bunch of money and end up with the same problem, That's why I am considering the headers and eliminating the cats. no inspections here.

I agree haha! I always want an upgrade. But if I can get the cats replaced for half the money, my situation would require me to save the $. however, if its gonna be close. headers here we go! :0

however, I don't want a CEL or fuel economy problems. Are the headers and simulator reliable? will I have chronic exhaust leaks and CEL's I know I have run headers on my hot rod chevy's over the years and have had a host of problems from engine compartment heat problems, hot starters, gasket leaks etc. I don't want those issues in this truck. Also, I am not willing to pull the fenders or the engine to install. can it be done without engine removal?

It's not like a Small Block. No need to pull the motor, have a look under your hood much easier than an old chevy. You won't have cel with mods listed, but I would consider a MAF calibrator from URD to tune it. Free flowing exhaust will make any motor run rich.

Thanks! its a lot of money to stop a rattle, so hopefully I will see some gains in the process.
