thanks. I was being lazy cause i figured when the wheels get balanced I'd have to repaint sections everytime. i put the center caps back on after alittle more painting

    YotaMan's method gets my vote.

If you can afford new rims then go that route, but since you are asking about painting I assume you'd rather not spend the money on new ones. So... if you paint, I vote Matte Black.

I have the exact truck. & I'm looking to do something fun with it like paint the rims black and change these useless manufacture tires out? ANy suggestions on what color black to use i hear different people talk about different blacks like gloss, semi-gloss, matte.. Whats the difference in all these blacks? Any question what tire size did you upgrade too?

It's not new, it's not Mexico
NAPA #7244 Toyota Trim Black. Not too shinny, not too flat.
I'm still running the factory tires until they wear out.

I'm on my second tacoma. First was 1999 that I bought new and modded with pretty much everything at one time or another for 14 years. Toyota bought it back due to frame rust. New tacoma is exact same truck down to the black color with alpine nav/dvd, tint, de-badged, and softopper, so far.
I plan on buying new wheels when my stock tires wear out but until then I plasti dipped them. Very easy. No masking. No removal from truck. Two hours. Turned out perfect. Very happy! Watch how easy it is on YouTube.
