Hi all. i recently purchased a 2002 quad cab tacoma and one of the small problems i would like to fix is the door pins for the drivers door seems to be going as the door moves a bit when lifting from the bottom. toyota doesn't sell pins, just new hinges at $145 each so i bought some pins from rockauto. has anybody ever replaced them? the new ones have a threaded end with a nut but the ones on the truck look pressed in and i don't know how to remove them. any ideas?

A small cutoff wheel or a dremel tool. Probably need to cut them twice. Put new ones in and tighten.

^^^^What he said. They only way to get in there is with a dremel with a cutoff wheel and it's still tight. What I did was cut a piece out of the center then I used a hammer and chisel to get them started out then use a screw driver on the head to pry them the rest of the way out. Also, on the top hinges, try to cut the pin towards the top because the way the door is designed, it is a pain in the ass to get the pin out and the shorter the pin is, the easier it is to get out. You are also probably going to have to put the new pins in from the bottom of the hinge. I've got quick release pins on mine and I have to put my top ones in from the bottom. All in all, its not too bad of a job. From what I remember, I changed all four of my pins in about an hour, if that.

Perfect...thats the information I needed. I thought that I might have to take the door off which I'm not interested in doing at all. I assume just 1 pin at a time and its good? The new pins came with 2 collars per pin but I assume it will be obvious where they go once I get the old ones out.
    Thanks a bunch
