armed forces is the best one there. like you said, you'd be bumped to officer quik. i was out of a job for like 6 months like 4 years ago, sucked balls. just applied for whatever was out there. and you might be setting your bar to high in these messed up economic times. dont do fast food, but try an apprentice job somewhere. learn a trade and get paid. go to your local union offices and try there too. good luck man:thumbsup:

Good luck, I just happened to apply at Autozone and I got a call 3 days later. If some store needs people, then most likely they'll call you. I'm just waiting until I get something better, you can move up here, and its an easy job. I dunno, I'm just trying to help you out for right now, not later later.

Honestly, You have alot of time ahead of you. The Military is a good option for anyone who wants to go that route. If you can "weather the storm" financially, then hang in there.

Right there with ya, Bud. I have been out of work since just before Christmas. If you can handle the bills, you have quite some options. You can find a hobby, Take a vaccation, etc. Dont freak to bad, as things will turn around. :)

the millitary is a big step.yeah they have good benifits and as a officer you can make good money.but you have to ask at what exspense.can your wife handle you gone every other year or so depending on which branch.you would move alot and not be able to set your roots.i myself am in the army and i just don't think it's my style .i came in at 29 it's total culture shock. your way of life changes quick to many decicions are made for you.so you need to realy think about what your willing to give and what your willing to change and leave behind.but only you can make the right chioce for you

I been out since april i took on 2 part time jobs just to be working. making less money and working more hours at these jobs. I just left one of them so it would be easier to go on interviews. I have one promising job interview now this week i will be going on the 3rd interview. Good luck man, all i can say is you might just have to take somthing you don't want and keep looking while your working.

You have a Master's degree.. apply to places like UoP and other universities to teach.. universities that offer online / distance education... The pay, although not huge, should be enough to help you through the tough times.

    Just a thought...

What about FBI / CIA? The Feds are always looking for good people?

Hardship is usually the pathway to peace. Hang in there. Patience is one thing, but continuing to put one foot in front of the other & not giving up is bound to make something happen. Stay positive friend. "If it doesn't kill ya, it will serve to make you stronger" eventually.:)

When life gets interesting learn to play pinball...
Me: College Level Physics and Calculus in Highschool.. Computer Programing in College... Electronics in Trade School... Working in a hardware store because I wanted to live in a specific Geographic area... found a small office equiptment store that sold copiers and fax machines.. did the job they posted (repair tec) but I helped open the door for them to get into Phone systems and then Computer Networks.... Filled out the resume and then went to work for General Electric Plasitics working on their computers. I now own my own computer network consulting company.

For you.. I would look at:
Maintenance/Certification companies for Hospital Equiptment. All Hospital Electronics have to be tested and certified (twice?) a year.. The maintenance also has to be done and logs kept. Small Lasic companies or Plastic Surgeons probably outsource to a maintenance consultant or contract with the Manufacturer. Manufacturers need local techs so Job Postings could be in another state at the Corporate offices. Keep sane by doing your own logs and do further diagnosis than the part swap and figure how to design a better doohickey...

Make many resumes... just keep track of which one you send where. Don't lie but different companies are interested in different qualifications. Only put on the paper what pertains to the job. Downplay gpa and (cough -forget) to mention the master unless needed, it will intimidate too many hiring managers.

Also the second to the last thing I read tells me there is a good chance you have diabetes... to some that is a "sickness", my sister is a Certified Diabetes Educator so I know better but... Yes, it is illegal to discriminate based on that but trust me.... remove it.

Good Luck! Everything works out wonderfully in the end... you just have to have patience to wait to the end.

You see I hated school and sure as hell wasnt paying for it even if i could afford it. So now Im a Marine and I work on 48million dollar fighter jets.
