Switch from Eibach's to OME's?

    Hi All,

    I don't meant to beat the subject to death, given I've done a ton of searching on this forum and find very helpful reviews, but I do need some opinions. Please don't bash!
    I'm currently running the Toytec lift consisting of Bils 5100, Eibach coils, and a diff drop, but I'm contemplating "downgrading" to a "milder" lift, such as OME 881's. I'm starting to think that the 3"-3.25" of lift is just too much for my ride, especially since it's still driven quite often (not a daily driver, but driven weekly). I've since put about 1200 miles on the lift and I'm already noticing cv boot wear, which was expected. But, now I'm not sure I'm going to be adding a bumper and winch after all (or at least anytime in the near future).
    I'm curious if anyone else has went this route and has an experience worth mentioning. Were you happy with the switch, or would you go back to Eibach's? I mainly want to avoid going through CV boots, while still maintaining a decent lift (I'm running 265/75/16, so not an issue w/tire size).
    Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? I've attached a couple photos of the current stance and cv angle/boot wear.

    i change axles every 2, or three oil changes. have same setup as you. eibachs on middle setting.

    that much lift puts excessive wear on cv boots. this can be corrected by boot slide mod, and/or running porsche boots. i just change em.

    however this much lift puts more extreme angles on all suspension componets, ball joints, tie rods, bushings, etc etc.

    Only way around this is longer control arms, ie "long travel."


    aside from all that, ive replaced the 5100 lower bushings after about 20k miles on them as they broke. and the eibachs started sagging after six months, or about 10k miles. the bumper then didnt help so i bumped up the setting and it helps alot, but its to tall. i have same issues and concerns you do.

    Thanks for your input! When you change axles are you simply swapping out the entire axle (for a reman I'm assuming?) or changing boots? But ya I never heard anyone run the eibachs on the middle setting before- damn that's some lift!

    Did the coils start to sag on their own or did it take the bumper to do so? The bumper was my original plan on helping the issue, just don't know if I'm gonna go down that route after all. I guess I could see if they sag on their own, but again, I kinda wanna try avoid blowing boots to begin with, along with the added stress on other components, as mentioned.

    swapping out for reman axles. i still have oem axles in a box waiting for new boots, and a missing needle bearing :(

    as for lift, the rear is higher ever so slightly, stock shackles with all pro expos which advertise 3" of lift.

    coils started sagging ever so slowly, and wasn't really noticeable until i compared pictures.

    this was almost immediately after lift. i had no front bumper for a while.

    Ya it seems pretty common for people to swap reman axles due to their low cost and lifetime warranty. If it comes down to it, I'll probably just have to go that route, though I was hoping/curious if different coils would solve the issue.

    You can definitely see the difference in sag in the pictures. But if that wasn't till bout 10k later, then that's a bunch of axle swaps before then I'm assuming? Some people with the same setup have no boots blow, but it seems most people eventually do. Well hopefully I can figure something out before they do go.

    Anyone else wanna chime in?
