Heh they ain't cheap, I think my G73 was $1,300, then the 74 came out with a price increase of course, and the latest 75 I bought was about $1,800. You get what you pay for, I've owned about 20 desktops over the years (all self built) and this damn laptop has surprised the hell out of me on what you can do with it and the power it has.

Backup (always good to do regardless), memory upgrade, ditch Norton for something else it's a resource hog (I prefer Kaspersky), hdd upgrade and reload OS if you still don't see a difference but I think you will. If you buy a new one I prefer Asus and Toshiba.

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a new MacBook Pro

    2.9 processor
    1TB hard drive
    8gb ram

3 year warranty. I'm pretty excited about it.

My dad saw the condition of my old laptop and said I needed a new one so I went and got a 1TB external hard drive and l began to backup my files

My comp will be at my door next Friday.

Thanks all for the suggestions I'll prob restore my current laptop to factory settings and have it as a spare.

With that external hard drive you can set it up as a "time capsule" as apple calls it and anytime that it is plugged in it will automatically back up your files so restoring your computer will be really easy.

That's the plan. I'm really just Intrested in my 2000 songs and my desktop background and my college papers. Everything else can go.
