I got orders to Guam and had to have a buddy drop off my Taco at the shipment place. Only took him a month to actually do. WTF?

Anyway in anticipation of getting in for the first time in three months starting her up and losing my mind at the telltale heart sound of the damn blower motor, I broke down and bought one off Amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Tacoma...379670438&sr=8-5&keywords=tacoma+blower+motor

OnceI switch it out im going to take the original one apart and rebuild it, make it bigger, stronger, faster, we have the technology....

My newly purchased 2011 has this issue.
    Annoying is not the word.
First attempt at the fix, made it worse.
    I'll be revisiting this ...

A little of this and a little of that.
The chirp finally hit my last nerve so I got to this today. Thank you to all the photos posted & write ups. Really simple remove/reinstall of blower motor. Disassembly of blower motor is also straightforward. Hopefully the fine sanding, cleaning, & lube will be the fix. The chirp is gone right now. FWIW, I used AeroKroil spray penetrating oil.

FINALLY the chirp is gone! Thanks for your post. This was driving me up the wall, so I followed your instructions and re installed the motor. There was a slight chirp when I first started the blower, but quickly disappeared. It's been a month now and all is well!

2011 here...Dealer said, oh its just a leaf in the motor, It came back a week after the dealers fix. I checked here and finally did the lube fix on the bearings. So far so good. No clicks, ticks or chirps.

On a side note, Once you drop the blower from the under-Dash housing, the interior lips of the blower housing are razor sharp so use caution while checking for debris that may have gotten past your filter......I didn't :(

I finally did this fix today and adjusted the two screws that balance the motor cover. I bought an 08 DCSB a few weeks ago and it made significant chirping originally. I disassembled everything like the OP and clean the bejesus out of everything. Sounds great for now! Hopefully continues. Thanks for the write up:thumbsup:

Toyota just installed the "new" upgraded (87103-04043)part in my truck. Outta 3/36K warranty. They paid for the part and I had to cover the labor. So I guess Toyota is pretty aware this is a ridiculously common problem. Only had it for a couple of days, but so far no more squeaky-squeaky. Hopefully it's cured for good, but at least I've got 12months/12K miles in case it comes back.

I have not heard of any issues with the 043 blower. You should not have any more problems. I had to change mine also. I was changing 2 a week at one point.

My update. After reading about the new upgraded blower motor they install as a fix part # 87103-04043. I called the parts department an the dealership here. The part cost $146.26 from them. I then searched online and found it a little cheaper. I have 45k miles so out of warranty but thought I'd take a chance and pull the TSB card with service manager. When I called he said well you have over 36k miles. It would be $336 installed. I told him for that price I could just get the part online and install myself. It only has 3 bolts holding it in. He said he would call corporate and see if he could help me with price. 3 hours later he said he could do job and my portion would be $66.50. I took it in today. Took them an hour. No more annoying noise!!!! :)

So for $66.50 I got the part and had it installed. That's cheaper than I could get the part only online! Glad I took the time to call before I just got the part and installed it myself!

Going in Wednesday to get the new blower put it under warranty. I advised the service guy about the new blower part number so hopefully all this squeaking madness will be over.

just had mine replaced 2 days ago by the dealer under warranty still. it was driving my crazy. it started as a small squeak/chirp about a year ago and finally in the last month it ticks nonstop. took my truck in, dealer had it about an hour and called me back and said they replaced the motor. no hassel. its really one of those things you don't even know how amazing a quiet fan motor is until you get one. I have a copy of the tsb paperwork if anyone needs a picture of it for some reason.

ive read that the new motor will probably go bad in a year or so but whatever. it's quiet for now.

i can take a pic of the paperwork tomorrow. after all my reading it is the motor with the model # ending in 43. i think i read sometime about a 43 being better or something? if you "think" your fan motor is making noise and annoying it's probably not bad yet. because when it's bad, its BAD! got mine done with no questions asked. just get it done before the 3yr/36000. it's amazing how a quiet fan motor can make me happy while driving.

The motor with p/n ending in 043 is the new one. It has bearings instead of bushings. Hopefully it lasts longer than a year.

My truck is a 2011 w 22k miles in it. It seems to be past the three year mark and I'm not sure I'd the dealer would replace the blower motor.
