cold temps turns off my stereo

installed my sony deck last week, ive noticed if the truck is cold. the stereo turns off. then on, then off... if its the middle of the day and around 35 or above then it wont do it. but anything under 30 and it goes off and on and off and on

do you think its wiring or my deck?

the deck i bought new last year. it was in my old taco (stereo never did this) which was totalled in june. then sat in my storage shed until just last week

free bump for anyone with a clue.... my first instinct would be wiring but i've got no idea why cold would affect it

 

Possibly something in the stereo... Could be a bad solder joint that is separating when that cold. The accident could have jarred loose a board component or cracked a solder flow.

Or something in the wiring.

Not sure what else it could be. If you can get it replaced, do that. If it happens again, check the trucks wiring.

 

yea im trying to find my warranty papers to take it back to best buy.

im going to get a video of it on my phone to show best buy.

as soon as my truck warmed up tho it works just fine. so im kinda torn on if i should just deal with it or try and warranty it.

for the wiring tho i just used the red splice crimps, i always thought those were pretty solid connections, anyone disagree?

 

they're ok, i used them on m last car when i was changing the stereo around a lot... if you're gonna be leaving the stereo in tuck basically permanently, hardwire the connections with soldering, holds up MUCH better!

 

My factory radio did this, I just replaced it with a Pioneer 5500 and it hasn't happened since, knock knock...

 

Yeah, I hate crimp connectors. Solder and heat shrink is the way to go. You can get a cheap iron and then you know the connections are good. With the cold affecting it like that though... I am leaning to something inside the deck. Hard to say though. Could be in your crimps too. Maybe check that out first.

 

My factory radio does this on my 2010. My 08 never did it although it was the 6-disc radio.

 

i found my warranty papers finally and am going to try and get a new one. if they dont do it then im back to checking my wires.

wouldnt it only be one wire tho?
