I have an 04 v6 tacoma , recently it has slowd on the rpm build and when the RPM's hit 3500-5000 the power hits hard.
I realize that max power is 3400 to 4800 but its always been a quick rpm build and a throw back in your seat but now it's granny to 3500 the BOOM power hits.
It's almost as if im building boost (i definitely am not) I'm N/a

Now before everyone starts saying well no need to be trying to build your RPM's that fast it be going fast.

I drive in the dunes where there is no speed limit and I have a mile Long private road on my own property where I set no speed limit.
I DO NOT do this on public roads.

Does anyone know what it could be?

My engine has 206k on it but the engine looks brand new and has been maintained religiously.
No nitrous as I planned on doing or anything
I moved to a 89 toyota pickup swap for that stuff

I'd give t a seafoam treatment, change the plugs, and clean the maf and then see where you're at.

Does the trans seem to be shifting normally?

I just got a tune up 4,000 miles ago.
I'm going to try new NGK spark plugs, plug wires, coil packs, timing belt (it's time), and a tune up.
My friend blew his 06 Chevy silverado with sea foam, not sure if he did it right or wrong but from what I've heard sea foam Isn't a very good thing to do to your engine.

he must have really been careless. It's a simple process that can go wrong easily without being diligent. I've done it a few times on family vehicles and haven't had any issues.

My 99 used to be like that. Would be a dog, pooching along, then WHAM! tach's right up and pulled like it should. Could be any number of things. O2, MAF or TPS. Never tried Seafoam.

The first think you need to do is clean your MAF, if this is dirty it can cause these exact symptoms and often has on my truck. Next clean your TB really good, and by really good I mean actually remove it from the truck and let it soak overnight in some seafoam and then go at it with a toothbrush (preferably not your wifes) and then put it back in. If neither of these works then I would think it may be your torque converter, I dont know if you have an auto or manual but a torque converter that is going bad can also cause this. Check your tranny fluid to see if it looks or smells burnt, also look to see if there are any particles in it. If you have any other questions about what I wave said feel free to pm me at any time.

I'd try cleaning the MAF sensor with the appropriate MAF cleaner. Once that's done, disconnect your battery for 30 mins to clear the computer. It will run like crap for the first few trips until it relearns the data but may solve your issue.
