Anyone know a good "trustworthy" spot to get a state vehicle inspection in the Virginia Beach area?

Don't exactly know what you mean about 'trustworthy', all they are doing is making sure your lights, horn and some various very simple things are working....some areas do require a little more, like a basic smog check...

Since I came from California where inspections are strict on smog, Virginia is a cakewalk, 5 minutes and done....

    Good luck..

What I mean by trustworthy is that the State Inspection alone is another tax for the Commonwealth (as if they don't have enough already). They then take these taxes and use it for the most ridiculous things the human mind can imagine.

Locals here in Virginia Beach are pretty bent up about the guy that bought the Cavalier and payed $18M and told the city that he wanted another XXX million or he would tear it down. Of course, the city paid him with our dollars. The state does the same thing with our money.

Additionally, there are a lot of businesses that profit on unsuspecting and unknowing consumers. They identify an issue during the inspection, that's actually not an issue and then rape and pillage the unknowing consumer. Usually the wife of a military person that is deployed.

I am simply looking for an honest "local" business...

I lived in Los Angeles for a few years and you're absolutely right, it was a pain in the ass. I simply paid a dude off every year to give me the paperwork as it was much easier with the emissions.

Appreciate your reply and I will be checking them out this morning. Thanks again and have a good day!

    Shawn

I used to own a Landcruiser and always used DIA down on Viking by Lynnhaven. I took my Tacoma there today and passed with no issues. I was concerned about my tint and my starter. I've had a few issues with my starter lately.

Haha, are you asking for a "trustworthy" dealer to fudge your illegal inspection?

No lock yet. Just cleaned up the questionable stuff and waiting to see if it's a strong enough hint.

    I dont get it :notsure:

VA safety inspection is cake - there are 16 items to check. I always check my cars over and ensure they are good to go before taking them in. If your car looks like a rolling calamity, it wont pass. If you run into an unscrupulous inspector, go to another place

I too am from CA and in CA they dont have safety inspections. They do have emissions but I imagine emissions in CA and Va are pretty similar inspections.

It sounds like OP is asking about state safety inspection. Pretty simple to square away: make sure all your lights work, no CEL on, your brakes and tires look good and your suspension components are dragging on the ground or youre not spraying fuel and oil everywhere, and you should be good to go.

When I had my license a number of years ago, the State Police got $1 of the inspection fee. The rest was retained by the shop for the time spent doing the inspection.

You are under no obligation to have the repairs done by the inspecting shop. Take it elsewhere or take it home and fix it. Then get the reinspection for $1 and you are good to go.

    This.

My mechanic showed me an extremely thick book of all inspection requirements in the state of VA. Basically, if someone really wants to fail you, they can do it. Example, my friend once failed for having a side marker light that "wasn't orange enough".

OP I'm not familiar with the VA Beach area so idk any places around there. Good luck
