I got small brake leak while I was out wheelin over the weekend but I ve checked everything and I dont see any wet spots. Checked the MC, calipers, all hard and soft lines, and there is no fluid coming out of the bottom of the drums. Any clue where else it could be leaking from or how to find out. Its a real tiny leak but im still losing fluid.

How do you know you are leaking? How much is lost? Over what period of time?

As the brake pads wear, the level will go down a little...

Or it could be leaking into the booster?

Ew... hmm.. That is a lot... It has to go somewhere. If not external leaking, somewhere. Check your floorboards by the pedals and see if any wetness there.

Leaking into the booster is a possibility. Check the vaccum line going into it and see if there is wetness. The seal in the master could let fluid through into the booster I think if bad. Not sure of another easy way to check to see if fluid is getting into the booster.. Maybe pull the master and see what you can find.

A new master cylinder should fix it if that is the problem.

    How does your pedal feel?

just drove home and turned the radio off, the brakes sound like theres crap on the pads, but only when im going under 5mph. if im going 50 and hit the brakes hard they feel and sound normal. its not metal on metal sound but whats the chances that my rear shoes are worn out and thats causing it?

Shouldnt cause a constant leak of fluid... But be aware that when you do put new pads on, you will most likely need to suck some fluid out of the Res... Otherwise when compressing the pistons to get the new pads on, you will raise the fluid level and out the res it comes if it was full. I would pull your wheel, pull the caliper off and really inspect it as well if you have not. Good to check the pads anyways.

check the LSPV and if it was the cylinders it would be leaking out of the bottom of the drum, correct.

yeah hopefully i can get under my truck thursday. the highs for today and tomorrow are in the 40s in Fl. i havent even been able to wash my truck from this past weekend

Not necessarily. The wheel cylinder is on the top of the drum. If it's leaking, the fluid could be slowly draining down and all around the shoes/drum and not leaking out the bottom yet.
Pop the drum off, it'll be real obvious.

so i havent lost any more fluid, but i did find a power steering leak

but i took the rear drums off tonight and i found nothing, literally nothing. im down to metal on the shoes. Called the dealer and they said $220 to replace them, OR i could do the trail-gear caliper conversion for around $500 :D Im not going to do the drums my self because i know nothing about drums and ive heard horror stories about drums on these trucks.

I'd take factory drums over a caliper conversion ANY day with these trucks. Drums are easy...youtube should settle your fears.

New shoes are $72 from Camelback toyota and you can get the drums resurfaced typically for $15 each

With a haynes manual or chiltons the rear drum brakes are pretty simple and straight forward.

I know people that know what there doing and have still not be able to get the drums working again.

And im not gonna do the conversion just read a lot about the MC after doing a swap, not worth the time hassle and money
