I am going to be in the market soon for a catback and am looking for someone to give me real world input on which exhaust is best. I have done tons of research but looking at the exhaust systems on the computer screen really does not help. I do not want something that is obnoxious loud but more mellow and clean sounding. What i am also after is something that fits good, looks good and most importantly performs good. Interior resonance is also something i am trying to keep at a minimum. Well i hope to get some good feedback to help narrow down my decision. Thanks!

I put the TRD on my '12 4.0L. I would describe it as "mellow and clean sounding", but that doesn't mean "quiet". Its not even comparable to stock sounding (where all you hear is the engine sucking air like a huge fan). You definitely notice the exhaust note. There's a little bit of drone in the cab at certain low rpms under load (mine's a DCSB), but I think that's partly due to my bed topper; I think the drone just gets amplified inside the bed and then reverberates off of the back glass and into the cabin. It doesn't always do it, just certain lower rpms/speeds/load conditions.

When you get into the gas, it sounds just aggressive enough for me. Any louder, and I wouldn't like it. Its nothing obnoxious at all like a Flowmaster (I'm getting too old for loud exhaust). It doesn't "pop" or "crackle" at all like some of the other aftermarket mufflers do.

It was easy to install once I figured out how to get the hangers loose from the rubber. (Screwdriver and pry hard). Took me all of an hour to install it, and that includes 30 minutes of me trying to be careful with the rubber hanger pieces.

The fit is perfect, since its a TRD part. It comes all in one piece, fully welded, and ready to bolt in. I think there were 2-3 hangers (they go right in place of the stock hangers), and only 2 bolts it meets up with the Y-pipe.

Also wanted to mention, the TRD is stainless. Stainless pipe, stainless muffler. I'm convinced its truly stainless because my stock exhaust had surface rust starting in the first 6 months.

I'm not entirely sure that the polished tip is stainless. I had some corrosion starting on the outer lip of the tip after the first winter, (we get Mag Chloride on our roads and its corrosive) but it polished right out with some NeverDull. Haven't had any rust issues since. I'd suggest polishing it right away just to avoid any rust issues.
