Hello, I'm new to the forum here. I am looking at buying a '96 tacoma with a 2.4l 4 cylinder engine with a rebuilt engine and brand new head. I took it for 2 test drives and it was running well. I told the guy selling it that I wanted to try in on the free way and get it up to a higher speed. As i pulled out of the lot, the engine light went on and it started to misfire. The guy went back to the mechanic that just worked on the engine and apparently water had gotten into the engine via a wire from the pressure washing after it was completed. It is apparently running fine now after they allowed it to dry up, but I am skeptical.

Would this have done any damage? My concern is that water may repeatedly get in and cause problems since it already has and maybe it is not sealed properly.

I do not know very much about the mechanics is vehicles and any insight would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Id be worried not just by what really went wrong...... a wire let water into the engine??????? I think I stepped in something cuz I smell poo

    or shorted a coilpack/plug wire?

Id be concerned what they were hiding by pressure washing the engine bay.
