I have been shopping around for lifts, I would really like to do the 5100 setup from Toytec. But since my truck is less than a year old I would like to keep my 6+ years of warranty coverage.

As much as I dont want a spacer lift, is it worth the trade off to keep the toyota coverage?

This is the "Toyota Approved" lift

Im mainly interested in keeping the drivetrain warranty.

How is it Toyota approved? Is it maybe dealer approved? Just because you add a lift does not mean you lose warranty coverage.

Bingo, a lift won't void your warranty regardless of what the dealer will tell you.

edit: cutting in to your frame would be a little different, but my comment was mainly for bolt on applications.

The dealers are pushing it because they claim it "retains factory geometry". So all your front steering components, tie rods, ball joints, etc. will remain covered, where if I went with the Toytec they can challenge the repair of those components due to the non-approved lift.

The dealer has to prove the lift caused those failures.

Are they pushing the 3 inch kit? If they are, then more than likely you will need UCA. Even Readylift (which has a spacer lift 2.25in) sales UCAs as well.

Be better off with Bilsteins set at 2 or 2.5. Think most have trouble going over 2.5.

Whats even more mind boggling is why doesn't Toyota just let the dealers sale Baja kits. Although expensive, it would be better than the spacers.

By the way, what are they going to charge you for this lift?

No way would I pay $399 for that. You can get bilsteins for close to that.

The shop that will be putting on my bilsteins, tires and aal tried to push a 3" spacer lift on me initially. They said that I would not have alignment issues, and never mentioned new UCAs, cv joint boot wear, or anything else. I like to research stuff before I take people word, and I'm glad I did in this case. Too much money involved to put something on my truck that is going to end up costing me problems down the road. I don't do heavy off-roading, but the crappy roads in this rural part of the country have potholes big enough to fish in. So I don't want to take any chances.
