Which line is the trans cooler Return ?

    utility cap, ladder rack, frame hitch, sliding bed
    2007 base 2WD w/2.7 & auto trans

    I would like to flush the transmission fluid by using the trans pumps to do it. On the right side of the transmission body are two fittings / lines which go to the trans fluid cooler. One is substantially further forward that the other.

    Which one is the supply To the cooler? Which one is the return From the cooler?

    I was going to check the operating temps with a thermocouple and consider the lower temp line to be the return - but I figured that likely somebody here would already know which was which. <g>

    Return line should be the lower one. Hot fluid goes into the top of the radiator tank, as as it cools, moves to lower outlet back to the tranny.

    You can confirm by heat as you said. Start the truck cold, and the pipe that gets hot first will be from the tranny.

    With the tow package, there are colors on the hoses (red/blue).

    TRANSMISSION COOLERS
    This is how Low Pressure Drop technology works::
