Ported boxes dont hit as clean and hard IMO. I would just run it like you have it, and see what happens. Just try to do the RMS amp setup like I mentioned

    Unknow
    Many
    Not true at all,
A properly built ported box or even 4th order bp will own a sealed box all within the proper application parameters. But with that said, a properly built sealed box is easy and forgiving, all it asks is volume and a perfect seal.

Subs can be over powered and frankly do better over powered than under powered by to small of an amp. I have taken 1kw rated subs and bass raced them with over 3kw without issues, but that's clean unclipped power.

Underpower that same sub, drive the amp hard, clip the signal and the ac current sine wave basically acts as dc current and will toast the voice coils.

He doesn't have a properly built or sized box so adding a port won't sound good . I'd leave it the way it is , if it's not enough bass then consider upgrading .

Sorry I'm late guys....I'll clear up a few things.

    1) A properly ported box will produce lower notes LOUDER with less distortion. This is due to the movement of the speaker being reduced at or near the tuning frequency of the box. Less movement = less distortion.

    2) A small sealed box typically provides better power handling than a larger box. This is because the box pressure limits the movement of the subwoofer's cone.

    3) A small sealed box won't produce low notes nearly as well. That's the major drawback of a small sealed box. Increasing the size of the box will add more low end "thump".

I'm happy to graph any of these principles if you guys really want. I have enclosure modeling software that helps.

But for the OP's dillema; I'd say rock it and see how you like it. If it's fine for what you want then you don't need to change anything. My thought is that the low end will be diminished significantly and you'll likely have to add some bass boost. Just don't add too much or that will blow up the speaker. Keep in mind, when you add +3db of bass boost you're doubling the power to the speaker. That's why I say to use caution when using bass boost. :D

Thanks guys for all feedback. For now I am going to go with Italynstylion and see what it sounds like. I am probably going to get the carpet tomorrow and finish sealing it. I will let you guys know how it sounds when I am done.

Lowered 3/4, debadged, led tails, projector headlights with hids, billet grill, blacked out windows, painted front and rear bumper and grill shell. Inside, 4 crappy 15's, suede wrapped headliner and door panel inserts, alpine double din, few painted pieces inside, and every led is either blue or white.
Your box is way too small for that sub. If your measurements are right it is only .03 cubic feet. Also do not just drill a hole to make it ported. A ported box needs more airspace for it to work right and there are many calculations that go into it such as the size and length of the port which is all dependent of the airspace. If I were you I would build another box that is closer to the recommended airspace for that sub. Just remember to take in internal dimensions and do LxWxH/1728. That will give you the airspace. Also you need to take the displacement of the sub into consideration. Since the sub itself will use airspace so you need to account for that. And rms stands for root means square. It is simply the continuous power rating for an amp or speaker. It's the only power rating that you need to look at since max power usually doesn't mean a thing. If you have anymore questions let me know.

That's all that matters is that you're happy.
