The round thing on my new master was too big to fit through the hole in my firewall so i had to unthread the one off the old master and put it in the new master... 97 2.7

yea i had to unscrew the big thing too. it was a bitch to get it screwed back on ... the petal was in the way. i should have :
taken the the round thing off
put the the master through the firewall
    screwed on the round thing
    then tighten the firewall nuts.

I was able to get mine through the hole with a small amount of persuasion. I think someone in their design department didn't think that it is difficult to fit something through that area of the firewall in the first place, much less something that is EXACTLY the same diameter as the hole. Hahaha. Just make sure that you get that rod adjusted correctly, and then tighten the jamb nut. you do not want that thing coming loose on you when you press in the clutch to come to a stop.
