Infinity basslink install

-I have a 2013 DC. I am trying to decide if I should get the infinity basslink or

$190 sound ordnance b8ptd sound ordnance B-8PTD 8" powered subwoofer

sound ordnance b8ptd. I know that the S.O. will fit behind my backseat without having to modify anything, but will the basslink fit?

-any advice on either?

 

My experience on powered all in one subs is that they always fall short on thump. I put in a sealed sub box with 2 10" subs and an amp. More money, but more thump than I need (which is the right amount).

 

The Infinity BassLink will not fit behind your back seat without modification because its too deep. In fact, it may not fit back there even with modification.

If you're looking for a little more bass, the Sound Ordinance will be fine. If you're looking to add some thump, the do what 2013TacoLTD said and go with separate pieces. I put one 10" subwoofer behind my rear seat and I'm perfectly happy. I used this box from SuperCrewSound.com. I had to remove the plastic from behind the driver's side rear seat, but it was worth it to me.

 

thanks for the responses. I am leaning towards the S.O. It seems to have pretty good reviews and probably will be less invasive. Do yall think i should run it under the drivers seat or behind my back seat? I'm affraid if i run it behind my back seat i will have some rattling going on and if under the drivers seat it will get annoying.

 

Good luck if you decide to go under either front seat. I put an amp under the passenger seat and the bar under the seat hits the amp. I moved the amp so it only gets hit by the seat when pushed all the way forward, but still I worry whenever people move the seat (no one seems to do it slowly).

Can an amp/speaker combo unit that is 3 inches thick create a lot of bass?

I recently installed this sub along with a new receiver to replace the OEM head unit in my 2003 Tacoma Double Cab. I went with this as an inexpensive option for a sub behind the back seat without buying a vehicle-specific enclosure. It fits fine, and nobody will ever know it's there; unfortunately, that includes me. After doing some sound testing, here's my opinion:

This sub is not very powerful. I'm biased coming from two Infinity 10s powered by 900W in my previous vehicle, but this sub does not fill out the low-end bass like I was hoping. Before you buy, do some sound testing on your current system. If your system is really missing out on frequency response from 50-120Hz, then this sub will fill out your sound nicely, but so would a set of decent component door speakers. This sub will not make your bass much louder, and it definitely won't make it feel much more powerful. IF YOU CRAVE THE POWER OF FREQUENCIES FROM 20-60Hz, SUCH AS IN HIP-HOP OR DUBSTEP, THEN YOU SIMPLY NEED A BIGGER AND MORE POWERFUL WOOFER. A great sub should have relatively even sound levels from ~20-180Hz, and this one is nowhere near even. This sub is really "punchy" from about 60-100Hz, which is fine for most rock or alternative music. Anything below 60Hz and it is really quiet. Anything above 100Hz and the sound is drowned out by the door speakers. Hopefully it improves as it breaks in, but my suggestion to you is either (1) buy a better sub, or (2) buy nice door speakers and forget the sub.

Poor frequency response below 60Hz. Almost no frequency response below 40Hz. Quiet in lower frequency range. Too loud in mid-bass frequencies. Poor at amplifying bass in hip-hop or dubstep music. Uneven frequency response and sound levels from 20-180Hz

 

Crap I was almost sold on the sound ordnance..
