Hello to all.need advise on what can be done to this stock muffler. When I bought my frontier years ago first thing I changed was the muffler. I had a local welding shop install a Gibson hi flow muffler. It lasted over 12 years with no issues but one...hiway drone noise, you hit that 2500rpm and the truck would be flying ( and noisy) without giving it anymore gas. Now with this new tacoma I was wondering about the Dyno max brand and their products like turbo and Ultra flow.Im too old for my rig to sound like a ricer or a tractor. Maybe the new DynoMax vt .Your thoughts please.

Leave it stock... Think of your neighbors... They don't want to hear you all the time.

It isn't going to help performance of your truck. Should bought a v6 if you want more power.

Yes, I'm a loud exhaust hater, would love to ring my neighbor's neck everyday... One day I will.

Same here, I dont like a flowmaster earth rumbling sound, just want to improve on efficiency and a mellow sound, found someone on another thread that had a good comment I found useful,Dynomax Super Turbo, just little more sound than stock and no drone on the highway.

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.

I wanted a little more sound than stock and installed the largest MagnaFlow I could find. (#12586 22" long, 5"x11" oval). And this is how it sounds...

Under full acceleration there's more sound coming from the Injen intake than the exhaust. If you run larger exhaust pipe than stock, not only will it be louder, the 4 banger will lose low end torque. I'm running a 2 1/4" OD tailpipe which is slightly smaller than the 2 3/8" OD metric sized stock exhaust pipe to compensate for the more free flowing muffler and to retain the low end pull.

imo, go stock, stay under the radar. one less reason for a cop to rubber neck after hearing the exhaust and give you a ticket for that tint you'll probably have on..:D
