My 2009 tacoma prerunner 4x2 sr5 automatic has started this weird shaking from around 27 to 40 mph usually around 1500 rpms. At first i thought it was just the road but it started becoming worse and worse and it stops shaking when i let off the gas. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my truck? Thanks!

well i got my truck back and they replaced the whole driveshaft, but my truck still has the same shake so i brought it back and they've been trying to figure it out for a few days now.. is the u joint part of the driveshaft? i mentioned it to him and he said theyd look into that.

they do but for the first 2 days they said they couldnt duplicate the problem so they had me drive my truck with the service manager and he noticed it and said it was the driveshaft being unbalanced but the new one did nothing. I just got a call back from them and they might be putting a new transmission in my truck..

Im just so happy its under warranty. Does anyone know how much a new transmission would cost? and if the new tranny doesnt fix it then ill mention wheel bearings. Its the weirdest thing ever, my friends truck is making the same vibrations but his arent quite as bad yet. His isnt under warranty anymore so we are waiting to see what fixes my truck before we work on his.

Mine is doing the same, I was going to take it in later this week. I was thinking of the wheel bearings too. I just got my new floor jack and going to jack her up tomorrow to check it out.

I just got my truck back today with the new transmission and all the shaking is gone. My truck feels brand new right now and every weird thing that my truck would do is fixed. If I hadn't bought the warranty I would've been out at least 4 grand on just this alone! But now my friends truck is doing the same thing and he doesn't have the warranty or 4 grand to pay right now, anyone have any other ideas of what it could be? So far we think it could be the u bolt, torque converter, differential, tranny..
    Thanks

thanks man, i was thinking about trying the lemon law with mine if this didnt fix it, but i hope yours gets fixed. It seems that this happens to a lot of people and no one knows what it is.
ill tell him to go get that part. Do you have any idea how much it will cost? He was just gonna live with it but i have no idea what will happen over time

Mine is doing the exact same problem and I thought either the ujoints or the carrier bearing so I replaced the carrier bearing and it didn't fix anything and the ujoints feel fine. I really hope its not the tranny because I don't have warranty!!
