Greetings from Eastern Mt (Glendive population 3,000), I have a 1996 Tacoma and I need to get spare tire lowered down from underneath the bed. When I bought the truck it did not have a jack or the long bar type handle to lower the spare. Does anyone know what those long handles are called? I found a parts yard in Denver that wanted 50+ bucks just for the handle! When I look through the bumper it looks like the hole to insert the handle end is back about 3ft , and the head of the hole appears to accept something like the end of one of those old-style bottle jack handles.
Does anyone know if that will work? ---or what WILL work to let it down?
I don't want to buy a 25 dollar long handled screwdriver only to find out that won't work.
Someone told me there are 2 separate pieces of the handle...is that true?
    Thanks for your time!

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
There are multiple kits on eBay. You can see from the pictures that it's a multi-part handle. The part with the hook goes into the tire lowerer receiver mechanism (that's the technical term :D). Then there's extensions to make it long enough to reach from the back end. The lug nut part has a hole in the main rod that fits over the end of the last extension so you can use it to spin it all.
