An unsightly instrument panel on a new truck stinks. Toyota agrees and has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) to fix this issue on 2010-12 Toyota Tacoma pickups.
[IMG]Does your instrument panel look like this? Yuck! Get it fixed with the TSB.

Toyota says some 2010-12 trucks may have cracking or peeling on the instrument panel. They have built a new panel that replaces the factory stock version. T-SB-0225-12 tells service technicians what to look for and how to repair this issue. This bulletin only apples to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

The repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date. And this TSB only applies to problem listed.
    The Fix
As you might imagine, the fix is really just a replacement. A technician will look over the truck, verify that it has the condition listed and then replace the defective instrument panel sub-assembly.

The dealership where I bought my 2012 is calling me next week to replace my dash. I went to a dealership in the town where I live, and the service manager gave me the runaround and said she'd have to get a rep to look at it and that I should probably take it to the dealership where I bought it (about 40 minutes away from me). So I called them, the SM said send me a pic and I'll order the parts. Guess who's getting my future business, despite the drive?

On a more related note, I was going to post a thread and ask what I should look for as far as problem areas following this repair. I've never had to have a dash repaired, and I'm worried that it won't go back the same way it came from the factory. Anyone have any advise on how I should make sure the repair has been done correctly?

I have a 2012 PreRunner DCSB, vin 3TMJU4GN3CM131376. I am a little confused if my Tacoma qualifies for this tsb, I don't understand the numbering but seems like mine falls inside these numbers. Appreciate answers from you experts. Truck dash ok at this time but sounds like certain # trucks suseptible and if mine is I want to have dealer note so I'm on record once I'm outside the 3 year/36000. No peeling yet so I don't know what I can do, my concern is I keep truck a long time and it peels 4 years from now. I have read that for tsb if they are documented you are covered even if outside the time/mileage. Thanks for any help, trying to be proactive now and potentially avoid wasting money later.
