Hey everyone! I have a newly bought 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport 4.0L V6, currently with 3300 miles on it (I bought it with only 6 miles, and came to me straight from the factory via my dealership). A couple weeks after I got it and started driving it around more, I began hearing a "clunk" or "Pop" sound coming from under the floorboards. This sound was first under coming from under the drivers floorboard (I could even feel a pop under my feet), and then under the passengers side. Now, I hear it less up front and more in the back on either side. This "pop" sound only occurs during my first acceleration up to about 60 mph, from a cold start. I only hear one pop sound each time, coming from anywhere underneath. It mostly occurs... but sometimes it doesn't happen at all. To me, it sound as if my exhaust pipes and/or heat wall are still expanding and contracting, but I haven't heard of anyone else experiencing this. I have inspected under the truck, but I have found no evidence of loose parts, etc. I will be taking it in soon to the dealor... but I feel they will just tell me they can't find anything. Does anyone know exactly what this is? Ideas?
    Thanks!

This sounds like propeller shaft clunk. I don't know if its a detriment at all. Our 2011 4 runner had a silent recall for a propeller shaft clunk that happened on quick acceleration. When we went in to have it changed, I had a paper that stated the recall and the dealer didn't even know anything about it. They looked it up and it was legit so they replaced. it. To me and my limited knowledge in a similar/ new truck that certainly sounds like what it could be. Also, ours would just do it on occasion, hard to reproduce all the time.

If it happens when you crank the wheel to hard to the side, or when you go over speed bumps it could be the lower control arm bushings. Although your truck is new and probably hasn't seen dirt... My truck has a real loud pop that only got worse in time. Inspect the LCA bushings for cracks or dryness. Lube them up to see if it helps, if so replace them.

Could it be something in the ABS system? The wife's '13 maxima has a very noticeable clunk on the initial acceleration past 30mph after start up. We've been told its normal for that car and it's part of the systems check. Not saying this would be normal for your tacoma, but it might be a direction to look in.

Okay, good ideas! I'll check all these out.
To add to my description, the "clunk/pop" sound only occurs when I'm driving straight (turning doesn't seem to have anything to do with it). While driving and it happens, it makes you think that you kicked up a small rock from the road and it hits hard underneath. That's the best way I can describe this things.
    Thanks again everyone!
