I was an install tech at circuit city when I was in college, like another poster said... It's luck of the draw. Some of the techs I worked with were amazing while others I made sure that they didn't touch specific cars and jobs while I was on shift. Toyota's are one of the easiest to do remote starts and alarms, you "should" be fine. Just make sure to check all your panels warning lights before and after the install. The good thing about big companies like that is that it's easier to get compensation if they mess up. Well, depends on how you approach them post install if there was an issue.

Thanks for the advise. I would attempt to install my self but I just don't have the time these days.

Here's my take: get electronics form Crutchfield and get the installation card too. They will refer you to a local shop for the install. The local shop had better DO a good shop because of their affiliation with Crutchfield. Did my truck stereo this way and the shop did a great job. Install price is very reasonable.

By the way, I don't trust BB worth one red cent to do ANY install work. I only buy what I need and stay the hell away from sales people.

100 $ is not much saving if you're comparing a crap job to a great job. I'd skip best buy no matter what.

It's comparable to using Jiffy Lube for oil changes, sometimes you get a good guy and others a guy like the one who insisted at 15K I must get the front diff service..on my 2 wheel drive!

When Circuit City was around I used them for an install and it was fine. However, a friend of mine who worked in sales there gave me the names of good and bad techs there so I just requested one of the good ones who he knew well at work and otherwise.

If it was me and the $100 is the only reason you're not sure, I'd spend it and get the other guy. You can also build a long-term relationship easier with a smaller shop IMO.

Granted yes Best Buy will fix a mistake (I'd think the other would too), but there's a difference between your radio working right and your truck starting right.

Well I pulled the trigger on bestbuy. I got the viper alarm/remote start installed. They did an awsome job. Couldnt be happier. The local shop could only install during the week so I couldnt go with them due to my work schedule. I would recomend my local bestbuy for anyone looking to get an alarm installed.
