Yeah, if you plan on hauling a lot of long stuff, the longbed comes in handy. The extra foot, doesn't interfere with parking at all. With all that said, I like the looks of the shortbed and haven't had any issues except trying to haul a ATV in the bed.

I like the looks of the Short Bed. I bought a long bed because its a truck. For using it as a truck the short bed seemed pointless. I know the bed is only a foot bigger but in my little brain it made a difference. I really like driving it around town. Driving I love however I noticed when parking its a bit more difficult to park than my Suburban was. Its nicer not being as wide, but it has a bigger turning radius.

I hauled plywood in the bed this week and just took 1150 pounds of Demo from some remodeling we are doing to the dump. Would buy the long bed again.

    Welcome new guy.
The Long bed can be tough to park , it is a long truck for a mid-size. Luckily I dont mind a long walk .

When it comes to pulling into my garage or backing it up , I don't know what I would do without the reverse camera :p

Even though I dont haul stuff often, Its worth it for me .

In the end it comes down to your specific needs.

I was in the same boat when I was looking. Wasn't sure what type of bed I wanted. And then a dealer asked me if I plan on lifting it. I told him I was. Then he showed me both a sb and a lb with a 3 inch lift. And that's when I realized that to me. The long bed looks much better lifted than the short bed in my opinion. And the extra space is nice.

I bought my dclb for work duties, mainly for hauling alot of tools. For the weekends I love the fact I can load a atv without dropping the tailgate down. The rear view camera I must say is a blessing since this is a bigger truck and helps with parking or lining up with a trailer. Last, the dclb does look better lifted then the dcsb  :D

Basic Lumber - 8 Feet long
Long Bed Taco - - 7 foot at best, plus Tail gate - Makes roughly 8 feet.

For hauling, LB, for Having a four door truck, and to just say it's "my truck" since hauling anything longer than a bunch of groceries is difficult in a Short bed. Put a Tool box across it and the groceries get to be troublesome.

Just sharing my opinion. I'm sure some will disagree.

Long box is best for hauling stuff. But the short bed looks better.

If you need a long box and want shorter wheelbase, get an access cab long box.

Long or short wheelbase, they're both really easy to park. The turning radius on tacos is nice an tight.

LBFTMFWMF. If you need it, get it. If you don't need it, don't get it. For what it's worth I've never had a problem parking mine.

Not that hard to park and with the back-up camera you can easily squeeze it into in some pretty tight parking spots.

Like said above. LB is nice to take stuff camping or hauling anything. It can be a pain to try and park in some tight places but I usually park out away from others anyway. LWB is great for towing. To me a DCLB needs the lift on it. It just looks kinda long and low when stock height. To me a SB would be useless. I bought a truck to haul stuff in.

One this that disappoints me with the Toyota bed is Its just shy of 4' between the wheel wells

Makes it a pain to haul Sheetrock or plywood . If you set it ontop Of the wheel wells and the stuff is not perfectly centered all hell breaks loose when one side drops .

I like the looks of the long bed better and well worth it for the extra room. Even the LB comes up short for some things. As for carrying something fragile and flat I usually use 2x4's in the bed pockets and lay the material on top.
The LB is stupid long and a pain to park. Much mite than I anticipated when I got it. I just fit in the parking spaces at work.

If you have a utility trailer, then get the short bed. If you don't have one then go with the long bed. I haul alot of stuff in my truck and most of the time I use less than 4ft of bed space, but when it comes time I need the space, I am going to want it then get mad at my truck and trade it in. IMO the DCLB rides better than the regular cab.

No its not.... even the DCLB is a small truck... the 2500hd crew cab long bed i used to drive... that bitch was long and wide.

That stated, i got the shortbed as even with a long bed the tail gate would still need to be down with a dribike in the back. and 98% of the time nothing is in the bed of my truck... and if something big needs to be hauled thats what the flatbed trailor is for.

But PLEASE what ever you do... dont be that dumb ass who buys a TRD sport DCSB ... why buy the sport which only benefit is the longbed when you could get the DCSB in the offroad with a locker.
