I just picked up new front wheel bearings and want to clean the shipping
grease and repack with bearing grease. I can only remove the back side of the tapered bearing for repacking, is this normal? How will I repack the front side of the tapered bearing?

If you ordered a complete assembly they should already be packed. To do it right you would need to disassemble the whole hub assembly and re pack the roller bearings. That's completely unnecessary though. I would recommend adding grease to where the hub meets the spindle and on the rubber seal where the hub meets the spindle. Helps keep water and debris out and keeps the rubber seal new.

No, I ordered the parts separately. I want to repack the bearing but only the backside of the bearing will come apart. The front won't budge..both bearings the same. Has anyone done this and found the same results or am I not smacking it hard enough to pop the from bearing out?

I'm almost positive you need a press. Try pm'ing monkeyproof. He has had experience with that. I had a local shop add new bearings to my hub assembly. Mine failed on the freeway and exploded. Pics in my build if you're bored. Lol

I will have them pressed to the hub tomorrow, but I want to pack the front of the bearing also and I can't for the life of me get it to pop out…

Did yours come with a plastic cylinder that fit inside the hole of the bearing? Mine did and when I removed it, they came apart. I'm sure the shop you are taking it to can re-pack the bearings if you ask them to.

Yes, mine has the plastic sleeve that holds both sides together. When I remove the rear part (bearing), the front part (bearing) just stays put, will not slide out.

Normal my used bearing came apart with some force but new ones won't. Not sure why. Thats a usual question in wheel bearing threads.

I've read through 20+ front wheel bearing threads and your mention on this thread is the first that I've heard that the bearings don't come apart. Sorry I'm slightly hesitant to do the bearing replacement when I can't fully pack the bearing completely!

You can't remove that part, so clean as best as you can, and to put new grease use a grease gun with needle attachment. Stick needle in between rollers and fill with grease.
