steering wheel shakeing.

Hello, Just bought a new 09 Tacoma v6 4X4 Dbl cab short bed and I am experiencing steering wheel shake above 60 mph, took it to the dealer they realighned and rebalenced the tires and its still doing it, they dealer is telling me it's normal. Is any one else experiencing this problem? thanks for your help.

 

no it should not shake, how can that be normal. I can't believe you accepted that for an answer.

 

I've got a similar truck to yours, except mines a prerunner. Just got my recently too, and have had no such problems. I would definitely go back and bitch up a storm,

 

It should not shake! Dont accept that for an answer! If they really checked the tires for balance, then you may want to try and rotate your tires. One of my BFGs will make my steering shake slightly when its on the front, but when its on the rear my truck rides buttery smooth and no shake(its not balance for me; no rocks in the tread, perfectly balanced tire/wheel and it does it). I've heard once in a while that some tires just tend do that. Might be that they barely passed mfg's inspection or something, idk for sure.

 

A friend of mine that is a salesperson for Toyota said that they are having a ton of issues with the tires flat spotting on the cars/trucks they sell are selling because they have been sitting on the lot for so long. I'd request that they replace your tires and/or have then road force your current ones. I had to go back 3 times before they road forced mine and then the shimmy went away.

 

The flat spot thing could be a real issue.............

The toyota's have lug centric wheels.......Mine shock slightly when new. Changed the wheels and they shake like the front end was going to fall off......

I have to remove the wheels, hand snug each nut rotating the wheel 180 degrees to get the nut top dead center( this lets the wheel fall in to the tapered slot better) ONLY hand tighten, then use the socket hand tighten rotating same way........LOL don't laugh if I don't do this the thing shakes all over.....Then just use the weight of the socket and wrench, then torque the nuts.... Some times I have to re-do it.....

I road balanced, road wayed, drove, slide and took the tires back and still have the same deal....

But don't you dare let them off the hook!!
