Great run at shoe creek, pictures pending.

 

Anyone know what this could be? When climbing hill/mountain roads my truck seems to "shift" up and down constantly until I crest the hill or give it more gas to actually shift. I use the quotes around shift the first time because the rpms don't move during the "shifting". It feels like I'm feathering the gas pedal. I believe it to be the Torque converter locking and unlocking. Why would it do this?
2006 4x4 auto sr5, 120k miles.

 

Suggestion Two: Change the Tranny Fluid > Could be low.

Suggestion Three: Clogged Catalytic Converter. MagnaFlow offers DirectFit.

 

Just washed off the mud and salt. Time to get it dirty again.

 

Looking into putting in a transmission oil cooler.

Oil: 6 quarts of 90 weight gear oil (I used Mobil1

$29 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90 ls) for both diffs and the transfer case:
3.0 quarts for rear diff
1.6 quarts for front diff
1.1 quarts for transfer case

Tools:
- 10mm hex head socket for front drain and fill plugs
- 24mm socket for rear drain and fill plugs and transfer case plugs

 

Yesterday..

 

Diff oils and transfer case oil changed. Transmission cooler mounted!

 

Completed. Took about 3 hours, including installing a Trans cooler. Flushed with 14ish qts Toyota WS ATF.
I've collected some fluid to send off to Blackstone. My kit is on its way. Hard mountain driving, mild off roading, no extra Trans cooler, 120273 miles.

Strange acceleration lag/hesitation on Hills is still present..

 

Finally got these mounted up. Nice and sturdy. Headed up to Boone to board.

 

Changing out the passenger side manifold. Trying to rid myself of this surging. 121781 miles

 

Pretty sure the surging is gone. I haven't driven to far out of town but around town I don't feel it.

 

Sent off transmission fluid to Blackstone Labs today.
