Just replaced the valve body last night and let it sit over night for the FIPG to dry. This morning filled the pad with trans fluid and started it up. Shifted through the gears but no shifting.

Had to tear it down this morning and realized I didn't properly engage the shift piston. Fixed that and put it back together.

Didn't add fluid due to the FIPG drying but quickly started to she if it shifts. Still no shift.

1st Question, Could the transmission not be shifting because the fluid is low, or do I need to rip it apart again?

2nd Question, I may need the truck today and want to fill the pan and get it working today. How long do I need to wait for the FIPG (Toyota) to set before filling/driving?

    Thanks.

It usually can dry pretty quickly. As for shifting, even slightly low fluid can cause a no shift. Double check your fluid level and get it set properly before anything else. Did you make sure ALL electrical connections on the inside and outside were solid? Do you have a check engine light?

My guess is yes. It isn't shifting because there's no fluid. It's a hydraulic tranny, fluid is the life blood that makes it work. No fluid no go.

The pan is empty. No fluid added. All connections were triple checked this time. Last night was pretty cold so I was in a race to get it done before my toes fell off .

How quick is pretty quickly (in 20 degree weather)? Its not the red silicon, I used the oil pan FIPG (black).

I just need to make sure the reason its not shifting is the fluid. If I need to remove the pan again, I need to do it now so the I can get it running by tonight at the latest.

The sealer is dry by now. You need to confirm fluid level though. THAT is the most important thing to check at this point. An empty pan means NO shifting. Hell, with an empty pan you are lucky it even goes into gear.

Just put 5 quarts in. Still no shifting. Level is showing between low and high for cold. Getting a pending Shift Solenoid code (P0773) on my Ultra Gauge.

I estimate between 5-6 quarts lost in the swap...

My fault. I saw it when the VB came in. I should have called they guy last night but I figured a piece THAT BIG missing was on purpose (the entire half on the front of the VB by C-2 Accumulator).

He's sending a new gasket but my back is jacked up from these past two days. Gonna have to get a tow and pay out of my ass for Toyota to fix
