Oil used for oil changes

I recently used Mobil1 high mileage oil on my recent oil change and the tech said I could go 10000 miles in between my next one 1. is that true 2.do I need to change the filter before then?

 

I use regular Mobil 1 on my Tacoma and go 7,500 miles between changes. If I do end up doing a lot of towing or heavy hauling, I'll change it at 5,000 but since my truck is typically treated pretty well, I don't mind going to 7,500 miles. I do check my oil level frequently and do not change the filter in that 7,500 mile interval. If you do press up to 10k miles, I'd still at least change the filter at 5,000 miles and check the oil level periodically.

Are you using Mobil 1 High Mileage casue your truck has high miles, or that you think the oil can go for "High Mileage" Your best bet would be to send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis to see if your oil and filter combo can go for 10K. Modern oil and filters can easily push 10K, but a lot is contingent on how your engine runs and uses oil. Personally, if you're doing it as a cost saving measure, go with regular dino oil and change every 5K-6K miles and you'll be fine.

 

I will be hitting 75,000 miles with my next oil change. I have been using Mobile 1 5W-30 since I purchased my Tacoma new and change oil and filter every 5,000 miles. Any recommendations on using Mobile 1 High Mileage oil? Is there a true difference between Mobile 1 and Mobile 1 High Mileage?
