i moved to the mountains of new hampshire last year and already i'm thinking of moving this time to some where i want with more friendly weather. my wife had the idea of living in the horrible cold weather of the north east.

i was considering the prescott area the high desert seems to have the more mild climate i'm after. the issue i'm having here is one of the creepy crawlers that frequent the area. i'm fine with the tarantula's scorpions and snakes believe it or not they don't bother me at all. plus and correct me if i'm wrong i can't see them really getting into the house much due to their size.

now the giant desert centipede and the other varieties is what i'm concerned about  i saw pictures and read a bunch of forums regarding the area but, some people blow things out of proportion. i can never have one in the house i would shit and pass out at the same time and the for sale sign would be going up as soon as i woke up lol.

anyone have experience with the area and these things in particular how much of an issue are they?

You should ask in the Arizona sub forum...the members from Prescott will see it easier there.

Well I have lived in AZ most of my entire life and can tell you I have never had one in the house or garage. I have been bitten by one but that was in Hawaii and it was about 8 inches long. He didn't live long afterward. If you decide to move here I don't think you will have a problem. Also if you like the Prescott area, you could move just to the east in the cottonwood area. gets a little warmer then Prescott but don't have to deal as much with the snow and you are close to the mountains. we also have the best carry laws in the nation!

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
I lived in AZ for 5 years.. never had one in the house... a few outside including a rattle snake in the backyard (fire department removed it for me)...

It's difficult to acclimatize to the heat for an east coater, but the longer you're there, the easier it gets.

thanks guys. some of the threads i read on other forums people where saying they where coming up from their drains and stuff and that they kept finding them i the house. i had thought they might be blowing things out of proportion.

az is beautiful and i always liked this area so on this advice me and the wife are going to take a trip out there and scout the area out. i'm going to check into cotton wood.

the area we live in now is super remote i'm surrounded by literally thousands of acres the closest shopping is an hour away and our town is small. so i'm wanting to be about ten to 15 minutes outside of a city/ big town.

the carry laws in new hampshire are awesome and coming from new jersey i could never move to another state like that again. we are looking to buy land and build a little house.

any suggestions on nice towns or areas or subdivisions where the land is cheap would be awesome as well. trying to get as much info as i can so our trip in the spring is productive.

Prescott is beautiful, my folks live near there, although is a mile high ( nearly) it can get windy and chilly at times.

ashville is a good place to be if you are more open minded and is becoming more of an alternative lifestyle area (not dogging it by any means, just making aware).

they don't call myrtle beach the 'redneck riviera' for nothing. if you are into touristy people w/ a low tooth count, that's the place to be :D

we found some nice land in the black mountain area that looks sweet. we are planning trips to see the places in person for a week or so.

i think that title would belong to atlanta, but the ashville community is growing.
