I think I'm ready to make a checkout on Amazon. I think I have everything I need to successfully to get my cb setup. I'm going with the Midland 75-822. Here's a screenshot of what I got in my cart. Can anyone think of anything else I need. This is my first cb setup and I want to make sure I have everything. I'm sure I can borrow a meter for tuning. If anyone is using the Midland 75-822 can you chime in on advice, and how you mounted it in your truck. Thanks.

Both a spring and a quick disconnect?

But most importantly - you're still missing a mounting stud to connect between the antenna and your coax.

Edit - and depending on where you're planning on putting it - most likely you'll need some kind of physical mounting bracket.

Thanks for the help! So I guess I can't really do the spring and quick disconnect? I think I'll probably go with disconnect then. Unless you can talk me out of it.

would this mounting stud work? http://www.amazon.com/MIRROR-MOUNT-...qid=1390604579&sr=8-10&keywords=antenna+mount

I want to mount it on my tailgate because I have a camper. I'll have to look for a tailgate plate mount.

    Do the K4A stud mount.

You can do both a quick disconnect together with spring if you want. I just figured you'd want one or the other.

Yeah, still need physical mount. Tailgate plate mount? Won't it stick out 4' when you lower the tailgate? EDIT - Oh I see now - it goes inside the tailgate but mounts to the truck not the gate. Duh. [IMG]

The main and very important thing about your physical mounting is: it needs a good electrical connection to ground. So if it's just attached to e.g. the shell, or the plastic bed, or just is kept from grounding by the presence of too much paint... your antenna will absolutely suck.

Google "ground plane antenna" to understand more about this.
