If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
sorry bro! Tell your buddy to keep his chin up, and as all have said, research before you buy/adopt. And make sure you can verify the documents showing what shots the pup has recv'd.

Sad day, but hopefully Dodge is in a better place now, I can't imagine Parvo is a pleasant thing to endure.

Tough thing to do for sure. The little pup is no longer suffer which is a good thing. When your buddy is ready again, suggest an adoption center. Adoptions usually include everything the pet needs in their fee - shots, health check up and you're saving the animal life. You are a good friend for helping them.

    Regards 8sm

Your friend is a fellow Veteran and I feel for him. Tell him thank you for his service from one Veteran to another. Tell him to be happy that Dodge is being a great puppy for a little child who also died too young, up in Heaven. So his loss is the gain of a child who died too soon.

Regardless of the pet stores location it's your buddys civic duty to report this to the game warden. If it's in PA the warden will insure no one else has to deal with what your buddy did.....they will also nail the owners ass to the wall.

You should also out the store so no one else has issues...that's a highly contagious disease and any store acting like that should get shut down immediately.
