Planning to buy a 1st gen DC Tacoma.

Purpose: This will be my daily driver and will be used for camping (am currently not into off-roading).
Price: $13,000 (but can stretch myself little bit)

I read across forums, but my knowledge is limited. Trying to buy a truck that is built / partially built. I have two options and would like your valuable insight into making a decision. The lift on both the trucks is too much for the purpose and the supercharger for daily driver use.

Any other for sale DC Tacomas that you know of, please let me know.

    Thank you in advance.
    Heleto.

Decided to go with option one, the truck in Yuma Arizona. I live half way around the country in West Virginia. I appreciate if any TW member can take a look at the truck for me. The owner is also out of state and is far away.

I will be unable to fly so far just to look at it. More than just seeing in it person, I believe you guys will have a valuable opinion as well.

    Thanks in advance.

I personally would never buy an already lifted truck.

I guess TW dudes are little more trustworthy, though.

They are both overpriced. It seems all Tacomas are. In those two that you posted I'm sure the sellers are just trying to recoup their cost in the aftermarket items. If you hold out I'm sure you could find a better deal.

You can find a CLEAN , well maintained, never even off the pavement & STOCK DC..
Keep Looking...You add your plane fare to the cost, You are dropping a ton of cash.

Keeping looking.. just my 2 cents.... I looked for nearly 8 months for mine.

I wouldn't go for either of those options, overpriced and once you enter the game you'll regret having that lift. Get something with stock suspension and build it yourself.

And wow, those prices. I bought my 2004 DC in 2008 with 40K miles for 13,800. I bet i could sell it for more than that now, with the 89K i have on it. Amazing how these trucks retain their value.

I would pass on both. In my opinion only low mile *mint* 1st gens are worth that kind of money. I think you can find something better.

Me too, but given the fact that I will doing it myself in the near future and that the current owner is honest enough I am planing to go that direction

The second option seemed to me more superficial and needs more for even little bit of off-road purpose. No re-gear, no diff-locks etc.

In are right in saying that, but as you are well aware these 1st gens are not really going down. I am not sure if this is to do with the Toyota bubble with any of their popular vehicles or just the 1st gen Tacomas or a combination of both.

We have decided on $15,000 and a split in shipping charges, that is $15,500.

You Sir surely struck a GOLD deal. Been looking for 3 months now, here in north east part of the country the prices are not like that and neither will be. I am running out of patience sometimes

If I am going with this deal I am paying $15000 for the truck and $500 for shipping. I was thinking even if I go with a clean one, it is going to cost me to do those mods myself. On the other hand the current owner seems to be honest in what he says and did use it for the purpose he built.

If nothing else, the other thought is to buy 2014 Tacoma DCSB new. But I hate doing payments. If only I worked hard :p:D

I bought my 02 V6 TRD from an 80yo man last May with only 14500 miles on it.
He only used it for fishing and snowy days.

I drove up to OH to get it. $14600 is what I paid.
I did not want a Gen 2 so I was ready travel to get what I wanted.
    Took 5 months of looking...

    $13K+ for 100K= miles?

If you don't mind me asking, did you find that on Craigslist?
