Getting ready to build another truck. I've had TRD superchargers on my last two builds, and like them, but also realize the power is not what it could be…so, I want a URD set up.

What I am confused about, is that I was under the impression that URD offers the Mark 3 for up to 2014 Tacomas…but, the website only states 2005-2008 Tacomas. Am I reading that wrong? Are the URD superchargers available for 2014 Tacomas?

Second scenario, my last two builds were Tacos, and I think (maybe) I might like to build a 4Runner. I know URD does not have access to Toyota's EMS, which is where the stalemate leaves us now. Does anybody have any idea on if or when a work around might be available for the 2014 $Runner…if ever?

    Thanks.

Best to call and ask Gadget, but I think the issue is that the connectors for the ecm changed in 2009 and urd hasn't been able to get them reproduced and the urd system relies on the UCON to manage things. Without these connectors, the UCON cannot be plugged in.

Feel free to correct me anyone, Thats just off the top of my head.

Not sure of ur supporting mods, but I assume u know that urd has headers, y pipes, fuel pumps, pullies, catbacks and so on

There's also a company that ports the blower

URD has a supercharger kit for the 4 cylinder to the current model year.

For the V6 we cover 2005-2008. Toyota is blocking our access to the needed ECU connector to go 2009 and later. We are working very hard to find a work around for this connector issue and we will get it solved. Just do not know when.

Couldn't a flying lead harness be made for the UCON, to be wired into the factory harness? It wouldn't be as easy an install, but I don't see why that wouldn't work? Use the extension harness for the older Tacoma, out of the UCON, with bare wires at the ends. Ready to be wire in. Basically like how most other standalone EMS' are.

I think the real reason here, is trying to keep the UCON as dummy proof as possible. Lol.

BTW, OP, '09 + have been running on various aftermarket EMS'. They just have to be wired into. Just don't get the UniChip, unless to purchase the harness.

Gadget, I can tell you I want a URD supercharger, and this is not meant to be a smartass question…but how long have you all had the prototype ready to go - with no work around for the EMS? If you've had it ready to go for four years, and don't have a work around yet, do you really think you'll get one at all?

My wants/needs are likely not congruent with a work around time frame. If you had to give a best guess, when is an approximate date on when you'll have it ready to go on a 2014 4Runner? I would likely not want a 4Runner without a supercharger, and if one is not available by the time I need to buy a new car, I'll probably look at doing something entirely different.

I'm pulling for you…just not sure it will work out for me.

Mechanically the 2005-2008 supercharger should work just fine on an 09+, but you would have to run a standalone computer.

With the current version of the UCON we are just grabbing and controlling way to many signals to do a customer wiring job. The current tech support load on just wiring the MAF Cal proves that it is just not a doable alternative.

Trust me, there are way more connections than your stand alone system.

We will get this solved, one way or the other.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have decided to go in another direction for a variety of reasons. Mostly, my gut tells me to stick with TRD because it works and it's covered under warranty.

I wish Toyota would make a fit kit for the 4Runner, but I don't think that will ever happen.

    Oh well, thanks again.
