Anyone have a recommendation for a good cb radio. I have had two cobra 19's now and both have crapped out with in a year.

This is the one I am actually looking at now. I like how small it is and the amberish color screen.

 

This is the one we all have. IMO the RF Gain is worht having.

Your truck will never weigh 10k or be able to pull anything that weighs 10k. An 8k is fine.

 

I don't think it'll matter that much.

No to mention a 10k winch is much bigger and heavier.

The pros don't out weight the cons for a single cab taco. No worth it at all. espcially with how Gage packs. his truck will never see over 5k i bet.

 

If you're suctioned in mud or in an odd spot your truck might weigh LOTS... Does the winch rating take that into account?

 

I've often wondered about this as well. Everyone seems to be getting by with 8K winches on here though. If the stuck vehicle can help then that takes a lot of stress of the winch, but what it they blew up their rear end or motor or some shit and are just dead weight now.

We had to pull a 2nd gen Tundra out of the mud once (Nothing broken on the Tundra). It had sunk into the muddy beach so deep that like 3/4 of the pumpkin was buried The guy with the winch weighed around 4K and I weighed about 5K then. I was hooked to the back of him and we both put big rocks in front of all 4 of our tires and stood on the brakes and that winch drug both of us right over the tops of those rocks without moving the Tundra at all... I don't know what the winch was or was rated for, but my point was that Tundra was more stuck than the 9000lbs on the other side of that winch. The winch was drawing so much power that he had to keep the motor revved to 3K and it would still bog down bad when pulling.

In case you were wanting the end to that, we spent about an hour digging out all around the Tundra and then tried the winch again and managed to get it moving and he got out.

 

My truck is 5-5.3k unloaded.

I have like 3-4x the steel on my rig gage does, a bigger motor, bigger tires, bigger truck.

and he is a plastic 2nd gen

No way he will get close to 5k.

 

Keeping the motor rpms up is standard for any winching job.

And you a bigger winch wouldn't have helped in that situation either. If it was pulling you and not the truck, your fucked either way.

 

Snatch block and hook to yourself. Twice the pulling power.
