I was looking into one of those CAI systems and noticed you can get a cover for the filter to keep extra dirt and gunk out. Does anyone recommend getting this? Does it restrict air flow?

Wait a minute....how much is the AFE? Their website says $951.00 ..... that can't be right.

Where would be a good place to buy?

Oiled filter: Better flow, less filtration. Dry filter: Better filtration, less flow. I run an oiled AFE.

    The $951 is for a set of 13. A single is $80.

I installed my aFe Pro-Dry S. I could feel little more horsepower right after.

Guys you already have a cold air intake built into your truck. I'll be honest I put an aftermarket filter on and I felt nothing gained so save your money and get as tock filters.

K&N, Magnaflow cats and exhaust. Electric fans.
My '01 Prerunner 3.4 has had a K&N for the last year and in the higher altitude it seems the engine breaths easier. I also have a Magnaflow system with highflow cats and exhaust. It is a bit loud but the truck accelerates quickly without pressing the pedal hard and runs well through the mountains.
My only issue is that it throws code P171 which is lean mixture. If anyone has had this issue a guide to the fix would be great and the truck would run better than it does now.
