Toytec just got back to me - damn good customer service there!

The progressive AAL would require new u-bolts. If I do this I'll get a u-bolt flip kit instead of standard bolts. The single AAL would not need new u-bolts. They also confirmed that the factory Baja shocks and brake line extension will be fine with 1.5-2" of rear lift.

Flips the u-bolts so that the threads point up, and the round part of the u points down - opposite of factory. This can help with ground clearance under the axle and keeps the bolts from hanging up on brush, rocks, whatever. Probably not necessary unless you hardcore wheel, but if you have to change the u-bolts anyway, might as well do it.

Get another email from Kevin at Toytec. The UB-FK flip kit is compatable with the progressive AAL. However, the factory bumpstops would need to be welded in - to the new upper plate that comes with the flip kit. This would also be true of a hydraulic bumpstop strike plate.

So assuming that I went with the 1" Toytec spacer for Baja, and the 2" rear lift from the progressive AAL with the factory overload spring left in place, could I go up a tire size or two? any thoughts on just how big I could go without having to mod anything else?

Hit em with some grease. That should hold up a little better.

Hey guys, just so I'm clear on the install, I want to ask a few questions. I've done plenty of suspensions before, but this will be my first on a Taco and first raising a vehicle.

Installation of the rear shocks is as straight forward as unbolting from the top, then the bottom, removing, and reinstalling the new shocks. Right? Maybe jacking up or pushing down on the axle here and there as needed to help it fit.

Brake Bracket extender, I've seen the pics, looks easy enough.

Now the front shocks/springs. The shocks have two grooves to install the lower perch. Driver's side (#AB) has the perch installed at the highest groove to offset driver's side taco lean/sag. Passenger side (#AF) has the perch installed at the lowest groove. I should be able to install these no problem using the 'No Spring Compressor' method of unbolting and then loosening the Lower Control arm that I've seen the youtube vids on. I will be re-using my factory top mounts, but the kit includes a larger nut and all needed hardware to compensate for differences between this and my OEM suspension. Bump stop is straight forward.

    Then get aligned.

    Got it covered? Thanks.

Sounds like you have it covered, yes the drivers side front will have the higher perch, but the rear shocks I believe have a larger top nut for the larger shaft. Should be in the kit.

Kevin from Toytec provided a couple of answers from their FAQ section.

    Q. What size tires can I run on stock wheels with the 3" kit?
We have not tested every wheel/tire size on these trucks, but 265/75/16 tires are about the largest for the 2005-up trucks, on stock wheels. The back spacing, and distance of the tire to suspension components is very close on the front end.

    Q. What size tires can I run on a 16x8" wheel?
With 4" or 4.5" back spacing we have several trucks running 285/75/16 tires, but they may rub on the front depending on wheel width, and back spacing. We do not guarantee any tire/ wheel fitment and recommend you have your tire dealer install and "test fit" any wheel tire combination you are considering

    Sooo, I'm pretty excited.

Once it's not Freezing outside I can get to work.

Can anyone post an up close, clear photo of how the rear shock reservoir brackets mount up? Thanks!

Congrats. Here's all I have. You put the mounts in oblong cutouts on the frame, pretty straightforward, then tighten the Allen screws to hold the reservoir.

I mounted the drivers side behind the rear wheel, the passenger side in front of the rear wheel. The cutouts on the frame for the mount on the passenger side, I found that mounting it in front of the rear wheel was the better choice.

    Question,

    IMG_20140126_113507_zpsg67iaubx_888e48641d924e86ba5dde9343cbf6b8ed7edbf3.jpg

Can anyone tell me the proper place for this brake line bracket?

I went ahead and installed it in place of the original brake line bracket on the diff, rather that the one under the left springs. Is that correct?

Anyway, got it all installed. Pretty straight forward. I was confused about the front bump stops because I remember someone in another thread mentioning a nut on the back side of them. Turns out there isn't one and they just screw on and off. Used a metal strap wrench for an oil filter to get them off.

Here's a photo, the truck's dirty right now. My 2014 Off Road came with what I am about positive had to be the TSB 4 leaf pack. I have 3 main leafs, plus one smaller overload. Didn't all the 2013 Off Road's come with only the 3 leaf packs, 2 mains and one overload? Did they change this is 2014 and just throw the 4 leaf pack on everything or am I wrong here? I ask because since I have 4 rear leafs, I should essentially now have the exact same setup as the Baja trucks. For some reason though I feel like I have a little bit of bro lean/rear sag. Maybe that will even out as the front springs settle? Either way I plan on doing an Add-a-leaf in the back to bring it up soon.

The new clamp should replace the one under the driver leafspring. The existing clamp on the diff should be reused.

The front is lifted with this setup, the rear no. So it will look different than stock. Yeah, the AAL will lift the rear some to get some rake to it. As well as get you some better cargo hauling capability. The AAL will take away some of the downtravel.

Thanks again! I'll swap those brackets out tomorrow after I get an alignment.

Lookin good! I really like those wheels, one day I'll come across a good deal and pick some up. I wonder if anyone makes a similar wheel in a 17...

Doesn't Baja come with 'TSB springs', 4 leafs and an overload (3+1)? Or does Baja's come with a different leaf spring pack than the rest of the Tacoma trims?

Mine is 3 + overload. I believe it is the same crappy TSB spring. I added the 550 lb helpers. Problem with the helpers is they do not ride like stock on rough roads. I wonder if AALs are the same. I like those black wheels. I almost ordered my 2013 and I had inquired about getting the black ones. I never got a definitive answer. In he end I just bought one that was already built.

Thanks! They were hard to find. If you're ever in NC let me know, I'd be very tempted to trade you for the gray Baja wheels haha

Thanks for clarifying your rear setup too. Sounds like we have the same thing.
