Shortening overall length of an access cab to improve approach and departure angles.

    quick question, is it possible to shorten the overall length of a 2nd generation extracab tacoma by relocating the leaf spring shackles to right behind the rear shocks?

    or would a better solution to this be ditching the rear leaf springs and going for rear links and coil overs?

    I will convert it to a flatbed when doing this project

    I am not going to shorten the wheelbase, just getting rid of the rear overhang past the stock rear shocks.

    Changing the suspension will open up a HUGE can of worms. If its not done properly, you'll have yourself one heap of a headache (and wasted time & money). Rear Links & coilovers have their own 'interference' - control arms, traction bars, ect.

    You're better off just bobbing the bed.....like this:

    This makes me wonder if this is a 'short bed' off a double cab truck.
